Learn to Dance | South Florida Wedding Photographer

I'm terrible dancer.   I have no rhythm whatsoever.  In fact if you ever watch me dance, you'll wonder if I'm hearing the same music you are.  It's that bad.  One of the things I regret most about my own wedding is not being able to do more than just sway side to side during the first dance for fear of injuring my new husband.  I wish I had taken some dance lessons so I could at least do some basic steps without fear of a hospital visit.   So it's kind of funny how obsessed I am with watching dance.  I love Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance and watch them religiously.  I'm also lucky to have Babette & Warren for friends.  They own the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Jupiter and Babette is also opening another one in Boynton Beach soon.  Her and Warren are absolutely amazing dancers.  They could be pros on Dancing with the Stars.  They are THAT good.

So if you're a terrible dancer like me and want to learn the basic steps or if you have mad rhythm and really want to do it up for that important First Dance, take some lessons!   Fred Astaire offers a wedding program where one of their amazing teachers will choreograph your First Dance and give you a basic introduction to all of the popular dance styles so you can dance the night away to all of the music mixed by your DJ or band.  Contact Fred Astaire Jupiter to schedule your wedding consultation.  And you never know, you might just run into Tony Dovolani or Maxim Chmerkovskiy.  They've been known to stop in an teach a lesson or two.

Below are a few shots I took during the last Fred Astaire Jupiter Showcase of two of their outstanding pro teachers, Gabriella and Thomas.

Fred Astaire Jupiter Grand Opening | South Florida Photographer

In July I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening Party at Fred Astaire Jupiter's brand new dance studio.  The new studio is much larger with high ceilings and beautiful windows.   It was a great event where the pro teachers at the studio put on a mini-show to demonstrate the classic ballroom and latin dances.  The highlight of the night was the attendance of Dancing with the Stars' Tony Dovolani.  Tony shared some of his experiences on the show and then taught the group how to "move their hips".   It was quite the treat and Tony is the ultimate gentleman.  If possible, he's even nicer in person than he seems on the show. If you've ever wanted to learn how to dance the Tango, the Samba, the Waltz, or any of the other ballroom & latin dances, there's no better place in South Florida, than Fred Astaire Jupiter.  And you never know, you might just run into Tony Dovolani, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, or Corky Balass.  They've all been known to drop in and teach a lesson or two.  My good friends Warren & Babette, who own the studio, are also opening one in Boynton Beach, so if you're a little further south, that will soon be the place to go.

And don't forget, they offer a Wedding Package, so you can look like a pro during your first dance as husband and wife!

One of the ladies I photographed during the Fred Astaire Jupiter Showcase also hired me to take some studio shots of her and two of the professional dancers from the studio. We had a blast! Let me tell you, it was hard to get these fierce looks because we were having so much fun :) Gail, Warren & Vladi - you were awesome!! And special thanks to Gabi for helping with the poses. A dancer I most definitely am not, but I sure love watching it! Gail had someone take video of the session, so I'll post more once I get the video edited.

Don't they look hot!?

Fred Astaire Jupiter Dance Showcase | Jupiter Florida Photographer

Two weekends ago I had the pleasure of photographing the awesome Fred Astaire Jupiter Dance Studio Spring 2009 Showcase. The showcase started with 2 amazing Acts by the students of the studio. The final act was performed by some amazing professionals, including Scottish Professional Champions, Warren & Babette Brown (who also own the popular dance school). I've photographed this showcase 4 times now and many of the students were repeat performers. It is amazing to see the how much the level of performance and technical dance ability has grown since the last show. Some of these students would put the celebrities on Dancing with the Stars to shame. The unique thing about this showcase was that a few of the students & teachers from Fred Astaire Boca Raton also joined the show, which was really cool to see.  If you watch DWTS on TV like I do, you would be shocked at much faster all of this is in person. If you've ever thought about learning how to ballroom dance, you need to contact Warren & Babette at Fred Astaire Jupiter. They are truly amazing teachers and really cool people - always a pleasure working with you guys!
